World Inside

    Transported

Salt water spraying my face
as a whale's tale slaps the water
Stood rooted to the jungle floor
      as the bull elephant charges
Felt the ground tremble
      from the once sleeping mountain
Sat atop a hill watching
an eagle soar above buffaloes grazing
Wiped my brow
as the last symbol was carved into the cartouche
Laughed at the sound
      of knights congratulating tournament winners
Marveled at the world
in a slip of glass under a microscope
Left the boundaries
of my world and traveled through space

All this without moving from this spot
The book in my hand transported me
At the speed of imagination
